BEASLEY for S.K. Town Council Bringing Ideas and Honesty WHO IS DORALD W. BEASLEY? Personal: Trudy Teutsch's lucky husband. Father of Jennifer and Kaitlyn. Grandfather of Kyle, Morgan, Noah, Zach, Drew, Abby, and Nathan. Age: 73 - Younger than Trump or Biden! Occupation: Retired Non-Degreed Engineer at EB Quonset Pt. | Retired United States Amy Reserve Master Sergeant Education: MacMurray College BA in Russian and Eastern European Studies When I retired from Electric Boat in 2010, running for public office one day was not on my "Bucket List," yet when you look at the ten names in the Town Council column on your ballot, Dorald W. Beasley - Independent is there, 7th from the top. I'm not a politician, but I love this town that's been my home since 1955, years later to my children, and today my grandchildren. I'm running as an Independent because the issues I'm concerned about affect everyone living in South Kingstown, irrespective of your age, gender, race, or party affiliation. MORE PERSONAL HISTORY: I was in the U.S. Army Reserve for 31 years, last position held - Infantry Senior Sergeant (Operations). After retiring from the Army, I assisted the Civilian Marksmanship Program in training Army and Navy personnel in advanced marksmanship skills before their overseas deployments. I was twice the Junior Warden of St. Augustine's Church in Kingston and a S.K. Little League coach. I've co-led backpacking trips to New Hampshire for students from Community Prep in Providence, and helped Girl Scouts earn their hiking merit badges. In 1995 I was a member of a subcommittee developing a vision for "Life-Long Learning" for the S.K. School District. My current commitments to the community are as a member of the Route 138 Reconstruction Project Area Committee, which I first joined in 2001 and, since 2006, as the tax assessor for the Kingston Fire District. Finally, for most of my adult life l've help care for the trails in Kingston's Potter Wood. Here's a list of what I believe are the most pressing issues facing South Kingstown today, and some ideas on what could be done. DORALD BEASLEY'S 8-PLANK PLATFORM Hold the School Committee accountable for their annual budget requests and end eighteen years of overspending for underachieving schools using undisputable data. The savings would cover the cost of fixing our schools. Order a forensic accounting of recent school district budgets to recover compensation, surplus to contractual requirements Bring new leadership to the School Building Committee Revise the Stage II application and contract a separate architectural fim to design a completely new 21st Century, carbon neutral, high school on Curtis Cormer Road Revise zoning regulations to permit clusters of smaller (4,000-7,000 sq fi) lots in areas serviced with municipal sewers, and incentivize construction of more affordable (1,000-1,800 sq ft) homes Partner with URI and other coastal communities to create a model for forecasting tax base contraction from global warming Reverse the policy of preserving buildable land away from low-lying coastal areas and start planning for the future - todlay Encourage community involvement with emphasis on increasing minority representation on our boards, committees and commissions Encourage implementation of the first-in-the-state CTE (Career Technical Education) program at SKHS for Firefighter Fire Services Fire Scienece If your vision for the future of South Kingstown matches mine, I hope you'll consider honoring me with your vote on Tuesday. Working together we will get thru this time of uncertainty, and set a new cormerstone for future generations. Thank you. Paid for by Friends of Dorald W.
